Napi kérdés 05.14.

Nowadays I don't travel abroad, only I travel here to Hungary. And it is natural, I use only the Hungarian language, here. But when I was in Italy, years ago I used the Italian language. I don't say this was perfect, but I learned it in high school, and I graduated from it. And before traveling, I dealt with it a lot. Then I was in the Czech Republic, and at my grandson's wedding, I tried to speak English. This was not something famous, but I tried everything. I spoke with hand, and foot, I explained and wrote around what I wanted to say. Of course, meanwhile, I was sweating blood. Now I would speak much better, but I don't go abroad anytime. So if I would go abroad, when I would travel I would use the English language.

I have been abroad several times on several countries.I like to admire beautiful landscapes and buildings as well.I could enumerate a few things that I really liked. When I first visited Budapest I was enchanted what wonderful city is it.It's geographical position on the both banks of the Danube and lots of buildings of different architectural style made it one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Several years later I had the occasion to visit Austria. I liked much mountaineous landscapes, but Wien is a breathakingly beautiful city. Later I had the opportunity to visit the National Park of Plitvice lakes in Croatia. It is so beautiful, that impressed me much. Still my most beautiful touristic memories are related to South Spain, Andalusia. I was there when I was 70 years old, this trip was a gift for me from my daughter and her family. With a rented car we have went to all important places and settlements, as Malaga, Cordoba,Granada, Ronda, Gibraltar.A few years ago I even planned to visit ( by a guided tour from a travel agency) with my two girlfriends some European capitals, as London, Paris, Rome, but my illness intervened so I was forced to give up these plans. In this situation I have to be satisfied with as much as I have seen before.

Napi kérdés 05.10.

Yes, I have already been abroad. If I remember well, twice or three times, maybe four times. But somehow I always better liked to go on a holiday at home, in Hungary. I don't tell the abroad travels were not nice, or I didn't like them, but there are a lot of amazing places in Hungary as well, that I would have liked to watch. I even managed to see a lot of them, but there are still many cities in Hungary that I have not been able to see yet. Unfortunately, the time passes, and I am getting older day by day. Although I am healthy I dare to leave less and less somewhere, due to the virus and my age as well. So may occur I don't go abroad anymore in my life. But in my country, I still would like to get to 1-2 places if it is possible.

Előző kérdés

Well, I really like nature. So my favorite tourist attraction is also an amazing place, which the beauty of nature surrounds it, and it is in Miskolc. Its name's Lillafüred. I think those who have already seen it agree with me. You could also say I'm biased because I live here near Lillafüred, a long ago. I regularly go out here, but I can't get enough of it. It enchants me again and again. There is a beautiful waterfall, and a gorgeous lake, its name's Lake of Hámori. And last but not least there is a charming Palace hotel. There are two caves, István cave, and Anna cave, they are both a fantastic experience for visitors there. This place is wonderful in all seasons, be winter, spring, summer, or autumn. I could speak for days about it. Before Covid, hundreds of tourists visited this place regularly. Unfortunately, due to the virus couldn't come here so many people, but I hope, the situation will change by the summer and again a lot of people can admire our amazing tourist attraction.

Who do you usually go with?

I usually go with my husband.
But we usually vacation in August with family every year and we go together there of course.

If I go a long way I always go with my husband or my one of my children. But If I go to my son and his family to Szolnok, I almost always go alone. This is not too hard for me, because I always go with IC. I get on the train in Miskolc and get off in Szolnok. This train is going all the way, I don't have to transfer to another train anywhere. Of course, I always travel with one member of my family if I go a long way. On the one hand, because I have a family why would I travel alone, on the other hand, I don't like to travel alone.

My generation didn't have much opportunity to travel out at a young age. On the one hand our financial sources were quite modest (though my husband and I were both graduated, but we've had two children), on the second hand the laws at that time did not allow people to travel abroad only once every 2 years. So my husband and I every two years visited a few East-European countries, and in the intervening years we went to the Black Sea with our children. So, in the communist era we traveled in Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Poland, East-Germany, Bulgaria. In Hungary and Czechoslovacia we went several times, because I had a few relatives (my mother's sister and two cousins la Miskolc ), and my husband has his uncle with family in Czechoslovakia. After the changing of political system my husband died and I got very sick ,so I couldn't think of traveling. My children ,both of them learned at University. Then were hard times for us.After the finishing of her studies my daughter with her husband moved in Hungary, my son got merried and I took care of my mother in law. After her death I moved to my daughter in Hungary. With she and her husband (later with their daughters too) we could travel more .We went several times in Austria, Croatia and once in Spain.I liked very much traveling, to know and admire new, beautiful places but after my granddaughters have grown up and I became older and weaker every year more, I don't travel with them anymore. I am glad if I can visit my son and his family in Trasylvania.Since then I " travel " on the World's map only, I watch lots of films and tv-programmes which show the wonderful landscapes and touristic attractions of the Earth.I am not dissatisfied and sad,but I'm grateful for my beautiful memories.

I have been living in Budapest for almost 20 years. At first I barely knew the city, but in our district in a few weeks I got to know everything. Due to the long distances, I could only go anywhere by public transport. There exist in this big and beautiful city lots of supermarkets and hundreds of stores including lots of bookstores. There is a large shopping center a few bus stops from our house. I have liked very much to spend hours in the Libri bookstore (there are two different Libri shops in that supermarket ).In the larger one there are tables and chairs for customers of all ages, so they have the opportunity to browse between lots of books before buying them.I like the beautiful new books , I like to smell them (perhaps it's a weird of mine). After a few years of living in Budapest I found the Bookline online shopping option, so it was more comfortable for me to use this opportunity. After my bookcase has became full, I don't buy new books anymore, but I prefere to borrow books from library. There are in all districts a few libraries, so I use this opportunity for reading ,and only very rarely buy new books.

In which part of the city I live, in Diósgyőr, there are not any bookstores. In turn in the city center or as we say in Miskolc - in the downtown, there are a lot of bookstores. There are smaller, bigger, friendlier, who needs what. But a library, that is in my residential environment, too. Its name's Petőfi Sándor library. This is the deposit library of the II. Rákóczi Ferenc county and city library. I have already gone to the library for more decades, naturally, here, in Diósgyőr. I always bring with me some books if I travel. I bring at least one book, with me when I only go to the city center, either, too. It is about a half-hour traveling and when I get on the tram, I can sit down, since we live not far from the terminal, and there is seating, yet. So I can read at this time until I arrive. If I travel far, I usually go by train (I always go with IC, and there are seats.), and I read something, all the way. If we go on a holiday, I generally take a tour book, and in that are many things about that place, where we go. So I can what are interesting things like over there. When I'm going on vacation, I'll sure pack for myself a few books.I will at first get information about them to select them from my area of interest.I read these when I arrived and I'm resting on my intendend place. Because I'm weak enough, I don't walk a lot, I rather relax in the fresh air and read a few books.I don't usually read while traveling. At that time I like to admire the environment (if I stay near the window), and listen to music or an interesting presentation from my smart phone.I have a mobile internet subscription, so this is possible. If I travel by plane, I try to stay by the window (not just above the wing), and above the continent I look down to recognise the mountains, the settlements, rivers and the contours of the continent ( usually the captain announces the route, so I can deduce what can I see down.) In an urban public transport I don't like reading either phoning.

The period which is necessary for me to finish a book is variable. It depends on several factors. At first it matters of number of it's pages, what size the pages are, then how interesting is it,how many free time have I...and other reasons. In the best case I can read 50 pages daily. If I've began a book which don't interests me very much, I don't put it down (I think, this is wrong), but finishing is slower.Otherwise, I'd rather postpone my other duties until I get to the end of that book.

In this case, I read it in a few days. But there is also I don't like it so much, maybe it's boring as well. At such a time, I read it for a much longer time. Maybe for a week too. When I went still to the library, I usually borrowed three books, and these expired after three weeks. I always brought books, that saw interesting. So I always finished three books, by the deadline. Nowadays I don't go to the library, but the love of the reading stayed, and I generally read some books, and I finish in a longer, shorter time with them.

There are still some exceptions: Two- or three years ago at the library I descovered an author from New Zealand ( I didn't hear about her before, her name is Charity Norman ).Her first book impressed me so much, that rapidly I looked for, and have read all three her books, which have appeared translated in Hungarian. Still I remember all three...The most interesting have seemed for me the first (it's title was The fall). Here the author discusses the menthal wrestling of a mother whose older child is injuring her minor under the influence of drogs, and about this nobody knows, excepting the mother. I loved reading all my life, but I didn't always had enough time for this occupation. In my youth age I had to go to my job,, to grow my children and to do the household. So, at that time I could read more in my holidays and daily in the evenings, after I went to bed. After my retirement I had a lot of free time, I varied my daily program, so I can read more. When I moved to my daughter's family and my son remained in our family house, I distributed my library, part of it I brought with me. Unfortunately no one reads my books, excepting those, which were part of my granddaughter's school program (especially the Hungarian classics ). At present young people read little, rather today's youth literature. I enjoy myself reading current literature. I love romantic, realistic topics, family novels or historical ones.I even like the spiritual topic too, which apeared in recent decades.I have lots of such books I used to buy new books by Bookline, but I no longer have place in my bookcase, so now I prefere to borrow from library or from my girlfriend (she receives many new books as gifts from her family.) No, I'm not. I don't brief drinks at all, never. And I only drink a glass of alcohol-free champagne even on New Year's Eve. But I must admit, after a good lunch, I willingly drink a small glass of red wine. Actually, it is a medicine for me, since I am anemic for years, and my doctor recommended it, years ago. By the way, I don't see anything wrong with the consumption of cultured alcohol. If somebody drinks before lunch an aperitif, or after lunch a glass of wine, but only one, this is not wrong. The trouble begins there if somebody loses control and regularly drinks, more and more often. But it is already another category, it is called alcoholism.

Kedves Noémi!
"I don't brief drinks never" Azt szerettem volna írni, soha nem iszom rövid italokat. ( lehet hogy a drink megszámlálhatatlan, és nincs többesszáma?) A "brief" szót több szótárban is megtaláltam a "rövid" jelentéssel, azért mertem használni.
pl. "a brief holiday" (egy rövid nyaralás) ezt itt találtam: (de lehet, hogy csak időtartamra vonatkozik?)
https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/brief.
"the consumption of cultured alcohol" Elképzelésem szerint ez azt jelentette, hogy a kultúrált alkoholfogyasztás
pl. "He is a cultured man with a wide circle of friends." szintén a Collins szótárban találtam.
https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/cultured
Elnézést, ha rosszul értelmeztem valamit, és így butaságot írtam. Még sok mindent meg kell tanulnom. Köszönöm a visszajelzésedet.

As I have complained several times, my family members (especially my granddaughters) are very fusy eaters, and I have always problems creating the daily menu. My only help in this topic is, that everyone like pastes. Those being the most important component of Italian food ,so I cook this at least once a week. I cook lasagna, I fill canneloni with meat, make pastes with Bolognese or Carbonara souce. Habitually Saturday is the pastes day, because only once a week is permissed to eat them ,these being fattering. Therefore ,this dish is not without problems either: because almost every Italian food has between the composers cheese or milk, and my younger granddaughter don't eat dairy products since 2 years, her mother buys for her vegetable milk (cocos or mandel)and vegetable sour cream (vegaföl). If it's necessary to put cheese on top of the food, I put some tomato rings on the part which will be eaten by the little girl. In this circumstances the cooking isn't between my most pleasant activities.

However I decided to take great care of my meal from now on. Because it happened that after 4 years I had gastric haemmorhage again. It wasn't produced because of gastric ulcer (thank God I don't even have that kind of disease!), but I have to take anicoagulant medicine because of my mechanical heart-valves, and those predisposes to angiodysplasia (small capillary knots in the gastrointestinal tract, which can torn sometimes causing blood loss and weakness.) This is the reason of my lately passivity in all directions, including English too. Now, after the resolving of this health-problem, I will be "strong and healthy" again, I hope so!

By the way, Hungarian food is originally quite spicy, I think this is one of their features. The stew, goulash, stuffed cabbage, or peppers all are typical Hungarian spices food. Many foreign people like them, because they are really delicious, but there are people who say, these food are very spicy to their taste. So, as many people as many houses as many customs. We have a favorite restaurant where we usually visit. It is a small, familiar restaurant. Its name is "Fagyöngy". It is at the foot of the Bükk Mountains. The servering is really good, the waiters are kind, and the food are delicious. We like to go here, a lot.In Summer we can sit onto the terrace, from here we can see, the Bükk. There are flowers on the tables, in the vases. Around the building there are many trees. I eat fried fish, with vegetables here, most times. That's true, nowadays we can't visit too often here due to the virus, but if we go to restaurant when we come here.

Our family rearly has dinner thogether because our children live abroad and our relatives live far away from us. When they come home we have dinner thogether. We've only had lunch with our relatives once in the last two years. The pandemic changed ewerything. We had dinner when our children were at home but now I have breakfast and lunch with my husband. We don't have dinner thogether because I usually eat at six o' clock and he eats at eight o' clock.

Does your family usually have dinner together?

VERY GOOD, THANKS.

My family rarely has dinner together because our children don't live with us. We always have dinner together when they visit us. I cook lunch every day so I and my husband have lunch together every day.

We have a big family, so if we have a family holiday, we always celebrate it in a restaurant. In addition, before the covid, I often ate out. In this case, I always went with my husband. We have a favorite restaurant, and if we wanted to rest, to relax, a bit, we simply went to this restaurant. But nowadays, we go less frequently, due to the virus, but for example now at weekend, we are going to celebrate our daughter-in-law's 50. birthday in a restaurant. In this case the big family all members will be here, and we are going to have lunch together. These are always a nice time for us, we talk a lot, laugh, we eat a delicious lunch and we have a great time. Well, in the past, I went more often, eat out, but now just we keep our family holidays because of the epidemic.

Do you stay with your parents?

WELL DONE, THANKS!

I was eighteen years old when I moved away from my parents. I went to a school in Sopron, then I started work in Zalaegerszeg. I lived in a flat wich was in a kindergarten. Four young kindergarten theachers lived there. This was a service flat at a reasonable price. It was a big help then for us. When I married we moved in Ajka where we built our house. My parents and my husband parents died many years ago. So we don't stay our parents.

I already live only with my husband. He is my direct family since my children had already flown out of the house. But we always have dinner together. In fact, we do not only have dinner, but also we are at all meals together. We have breakfast, have lunch and have dinner together. We can do it easily because we are both retired. Unless there is not some great family program, my husband does the shopping, I cook, and we always eat together. When we were still working, and our children were home, then we also tried to have to eat together at least once. It was usually dinner because we went to work, and school at different times. But since we are retired, we always eat together.
